About the site, the Digital SAT, and tutoring.
- Is everything on this site free?
- Yes. Every skill page, every worked example and all 156 practice questions are free to read, with no account and no signup. Tutoring is a paid service, arranged separately.
- Do I need to create an account?
- No. There is no login, and nothing to sign up for. You can read and work through the whole site without telling us anything about yourself.
- How is this different from other free SAT practice?
- The explanations. Most free practice tells you the answer was C, which does nothing for you if you chose B. Here every wrong choice is written to match one specific mistake, and its explanation names that mistake and shows the number it produces.
- Are the questions real SAT questions?
- No, and deliberately so. Every question is written for this site. Reproducing official questions is a copyright problem and teaches memorisation rather than method. We align to the same skill names the score report uses, so you can map a weak area straight to a page.
- How do I know the answers are right?
- Every key is re-derived from scratch by a verification program before the page can be reviewed, in exact arithmetic and independently of how the question was written. The wrong choices are checked too, so a distractor cannot quietly be a second correct answer. A human editor then reviews the page.
- I think an answer is wrong. What do I do?
- Tell us — email hello@singlestepsat.com or use the contact form. If it is wrong we fix it and say what changed. Reporting an error helps every student who comes after you.
- Which skill should I start with?
- The one your score report is weakest on, if you have taken a test. If you have not, start with Algebra: it is the largest scored domain on Digital SAT Math and most of the later skills lean on it.
- How is Digital SAT Math organised?
- Four domains: Algebra, Advanced Math, Problem-Solving and Data Analysis, and Geometry and Trigonometry. Your score report names the domain, and each skill inside it gets one page here.
- What is a student-produced response?
- A question where you type your own answer instead of choosing from four options. There is no guessing your way through one, so they show up in every practice set here rather than being left out.
- Can I use a calculator on the Digital SAT?
- Yes, on the whole Math section, and Desmos is built into the testing app. That does not make the calculator always the fastest route — where doing it by hand beats reaching for it, the skill pages say so.
- Is the digital test the same as the old paper SAT?
- No. It is shorter, adaptive between modules, and the Math section allows a calculator throughout. Old paper-era advice is often actively wrong now, which is why these pages are written for the current test.
- How long should I spend preparing?
- Consistent short sessions beat a weekend of cramming, because the gains come from recognising question types quickly. Working one skill at a time until you can name what a question is testing on sight is the pattern that transfers to test day.
- Do you tutor in person or online?
- Both. In person around West Chester, Pennsylvania, and online for students further away.
- Do you tutor Reading and Writing too?
- Yes. The free skill library starts with Math, so that each domain lands complete rather than scattered, but tutoring covers the whole test.
- How do I arrange tutoring?

- Are you affiliated with the College Board?
- No. SAT is a trademark of the College Board, which does not sponsor or endorse this site. We are an independent tutoring organization.
